SSDP Community Survey 2022
Participant Information

Who are we?

We are Students for Sensible Drug Policy (SSDP) Australia and our mission is to represent and empower students and young people to bring change to drug policies.

Our Campus and National Teams want to hear from you to understand how we can better engage with our community, and adapt to the challenges and opportunities arising during 2022.

What does participation involve?

Our Community Survey will take less than 10-minutes to complete, and will ask you about a range of drug policy areas we think could be work prioritising. We will ask you about the forms of engagement you are most interested in.

Completing the survey entirely voluntary, and you may exit the survey at any time if you do not wish to continue. We will not be collecting any identifiable information from you.

Are there any risks?

There is a low risk of experiencing discomfort when answering questions about certain drug policies and programs, depending on your own lived experience. You can skip any questions that you find uncomfortable. Self-care is important, and if you feel like you need extra support, we encourage you to access one of the support services listed at the end of this document.

Will my data be confidential?

All the information you provide will be kept strictly confidential. To protect your privacy, we ask that you avoid providing any identifiable detail (e.g., names, addresses) and write any accounts involving drug use/supply in the third person. Consider whether what you write could potentially incriminate or harm someone (in the very unlikely case that the data is hacked or subpoenaed by law enforcement).

How will you use my data?

Your survey responses will be used to inform advocacy and strategy for our Campus and National Teams. Any reports published using your data will be at an aggregate level and will focus on trends. This means that we won’t be sharing your individual survey responses, and it will not be possible to identify you from your data.

Summaries of this research may also be shared with our close partner organisations in the drug law reform, community legal and harm reduction spaces. You can email us to find out more about this.

Your data will be stored on secure drives accessible only to select members of SSDP. All data will be managed in accordance with our Data Management Policy. All data will be stored for at least seven years following survey completion, in accordance with industry standards.

Can I leave my details for future opportunities?

You will have the opportunity to access two separate sign-up forms at the end of this survey, ensuring we can de-link your personal details and your survey responses via separate databases. This allows you to sign up to volunteer or hear more from us, and join our Survey Pool to hear about future research. You can also let us know if you’d like to be sent a summary of the survey data.

Summaries of the survey data will be made available to those interested. You can register your interest in the sign-up form at the end of this survey, or contact SSDP.
